I recently picked up a few new things and a few things that have been around for a while from Walmart and the drugstore to try them out. So keep reading if you want to see what I got, and if you want to know what I think about them. ^^
Here is an overview of the things I bought at Walmart.
Firstly, I was really interested to try the Covergirl Tru Magic Skin Perfector, which is supposed to be a mattifying primer in a balm consistency. I have to say I really like it so far. I like that it doesn't dry out my skin, but it does help to mattify and creates a smooth canvas for my makeup. It feels very soft on the skin. I tend to only use it in my t-zone, because that is where I get the most oily.
I also was interested to try the Covergirl Tru Blend Fixstick Concealer. My shade is 1-2-3 light. I really do like this concealer. It's creamy enough, but doesn't look cakey on the skin. I've tried it over blemishes, spots, redness, and under the eyes. I probably wouldn't recommend it for under the eyes though, because it can crease a bit. I like using a concealer that sets fast for under the eyes instead. If you don't have a lot of acne or redness, this concealer can be good all over the face and blended with a sponge. I like to use it instead of foundations on days that I don't want to wear a lot of makeup.
Lastly from Walmart, I picked up a few Wet n Wild lipsticks (I LOVE THEM!). I really love my go-to lip colour from the same collection called "Cherry Picking." These are both dark vampy lip colours. One is a deep purple which is almost black and is called "Vamp it Up." I picked this because I love to try daring and dark lip colours. I also received a lip gloss / lip lacquer from L'Oreal called the Extraordinaire by Colour Riche in "Plum Adagio" that didn't look very good on it's own, so I thought a dark coloured lipstick underneath would work better, and therefore I purchased this Wet n Wild lipstick. I've tried the two together and they really work well with each other if you're looking for a vampy kind of gothic lip colour combo. The second Wet n Wild lip colour is my favourite. This one is called "Ravin Raisin" and is the most beautiful colour. It's kind of a deep pinky mauve and it really complements my skin tone so I absolutely love it. I think it will turn out to be one of my staple colours. ^^
At the drugstore, I picked up this beautiful Maybelline Colour Elixir (another lip lacquer type product), and a few skin care items. This is in the colour "Caramel Infused" and is the perfect everyday pink colour for me and almost one of those "your lips but better" colours. I love it and the consistency is very nice and smooth but not sticky. It also smells like pure vanilla extract to me so thats a plus. I definitely am going to be addicted to these, and I want to pick up more.
Next is a No7 cleansing water. The story behind this is that I needed a new toner, but instead of buying the Clinique one that I used to buy in the past, I wanted to try something new. Although this isn't a toner, I was drawn to it (and not just because it was on sale) because of the sleek packaging and the fact that I haven't tried a No7 product before. I really like the pump too and it's a much larger size than the mini Bioderma Sensibio H2O I have. I'm interested to see if it compares. So far I've only used it once, but I was impressed with the amount of dirt it was able to take off of my face (mostly oil and sweat, as I didn't wear makeup yesterday but did have an intense yoga session with my friend Laura). It does have a strong scent, but that doesn't bother me.
Lastly, I had to buy a real toner, because my skin wasn't happy with not having one. I decided to try the Etival Clarifying Toner for reducing pores and soothing. It smells very fresh and clean and although I've only used it once, I feel like it does the job of getting off any excess dirt and makeup, closing the pores, and balancing my skins ph level. I'll definitely follow up on how I'm liking this in a future skin care routine video or post.
I hope you all enjoyed my haul, and thank you for reading!
