ipsy/Myglam April 2013 - Swatches and Review

Welcome back to my blog! Today I will be reviewing the ipsy April 2013 glam bag. Here is an overview of the products I received: Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Styling Treatment with argan oil, Station Nail Lacquer for ipsy in Love at First Byte, Be a Bombshell Blush in Sweet Cheeks, and MICA Cosmetics Shimmer Powder in Earth. The bag this month was very nice in my opinion, with a canvas white outside, a plastic pink rim and pink zipper and a striped white and pink inside with the words "ipsy... beauty by you."

First I will review the makeup items. The BaB blush is a lovely pink colour, almost on the fence of being a dusty rose. When swatched it has a nice shimmer, but not too much (you can find the swatch below on the left on my hand). This is a full sized blush with 4g of product, and worth around $16. Of the two blushes, this is the most wearable (the other was a bright pink, but I wished for that one). You can find the website here, with many other gorgeous colours, including a lovely coral that I am now lusting for.

Next is the MICA Cosmetics shimmer powder in the colour earth. I actually really like this. It would make a nice highlight if one uses a light hand, or a nice rose gold toned all over lid colour. It could also be used as glitter for your nails, as it's a loose powder. I am really loving this rose gold trend at the moment. I tested this out as an all over colour on my lid the other day and found that there was no fallout. It was a very nice sheer colour, good for daytime or with just mascara and eyeliner. It is swatched below on the right of my hand. A full sized runs for $15 for 2.5g. Since this sample is 2g it is worth about $12. You can buy this at their website: www.micabeauty.com

Next is the Station Nail Lacquer that is made for ipsy. This is a lovely orange/peach colour called love at first byte (the pun is cute!). I have tested it out on my nails for you to see below.  This look required three coats because it is quite sheer. But I love the colour for spring. I did not like how large the brush was, and although it worked quite well, it would get nail polish all over my fingers and cuticles which was a pain to clean up. Needless to say, I think I did a pretty good job with it. I enjoyed it very much. This is a full sized product valued at $5. You can find other Station polishes here.

Here's how it looks:

Lastly, I received the HSH soy renewal treatment. I have yet to try this on my hair, but I did open it to describe the smell and texture to you. This product smells like argan oil, and has a very similar smell to the mythic oil by L'oreal Kerastace. It is a clear product with a brown/tinge to it, and is a liquidy consistency, but not as runny as water. I will be trying this out soon and seeing how I like it. As for how much this sample is worth, the full sized is around $22 Canadian for 4.2 fl oz.  This sample is .85 fl oz. making it worth around $4.50.

I loved everything this month, keep up the good work ipsy!
